BEN G. BROWN

ABOUT

Ben is a Filmmaker and Director of Photography based in Leeds, UK. He graduated with a Masters Degree in Filmmaking from The Northern Film School, Leeds in 2015, specialising in Cinematography.

With a passion for visual storytelling, he often finds inspiration in the Northern communities he has grown up in and the people around him. With a spirit of honesty, humour and enlightenment he hopes to shed light on the confusing complexity of the human condition whilst empowering the goodness and beauty that can often be left hidden. Through his relentless curiosity about filmmaking and people, he hopes to create powerful cinema that can give voice to those who may otherwise go unheard, champion the underdog and tell stories that need to be told. He might also make the odd commercial every now and then.

Ben has worked as a Director of Photography on short films, commercials and music videos including 'Man of the House', directed by Santiago Sanchez, which has been screened at film festivals worldwide including Kerry Film Festival in 2015. His growing client list include content for Boyce Avenue, BFI, The National Lottery Good Causes, Boiler Room, The University of Huddersfield, Provision Equipment Hire, AVIVA, The Turner Prize, Manchester International Festival, Ingenie Car Insurance and Russell Hobbs, amongst many others.

He also writes and directs, with his latest project STAN (https://vimeo.com/237623980) gaining acclaim on the festival circuit and winning The Yorkshire Short Film Award at the BAFTA and Oscar® accredited Leeds International Film Festival, screening at S.O.U.L Connect:Celebrate event at BFI Southbank in London in March 2018, being selected to be part of Oxford International Film Festival screening in May 2018 and showing at shorts international film festival in Trieste, italy in june 2018..
